  1. In the townland of Carrickgorman on the farm now owned by Mr. Robert Gilmore, a valuable store of gold, and solver, precious stones and ornaments lie hidden for centuries in a secret cave amongst the rocks.
    A remarkable stone jutting out from one of the rocks shaped like a man's head (which) is believed to be within view of the entrance to the secret cave.
    A chieftain named Mac Dubh who lived in these parts planned to capture the gold and treasure, which he knew carried by a Prince from West Breffney to one of the Great Festivals held regularly in those ancient times at Tara, Co. Meath.
    Mac Dubh knew that the Prince and his followers would return after the Great Festival at Tara along a path or pass near his home, so he prepared bundles of heather bound with rushes, and placed them on each
