- On the morning of the 30th January 1836 in a great storm the ship Intrinsic was lost between Bishop Island and Look Out Cliff. All her crew were drowned and the place is known ever since as Intrinsic Bay. The ship came from Liverpool and had a cargo of 500 tons and the storm was so terrible that one time it was lifted so high that the people on the cliffs over the Diamond Rocks thought that the vessel would be thrown in amongst them.
