- These same couple who lived in Farrihy had a pot of stirabout made near the fire. One of the neighbours came in and sat down by the fire. After awhile the woman of the house began to fill suit [?] the saucers of stirabout and buttermilk so the boy got up to go but she persuaded him to stop and to eat some of the food. He stayed and ate it. After some time he left the house and was later on found dead near the farmers house, as he had had no food for about four days and so the stirabout killed him.
During the bad times the potatoes blacked and cholera set in. A(continues on next page)
