Weeds have to be taken away from growing crops, during the Summer months, and they ? have also to be sprayed to protect them from the blight. The men pick the potatoes from the earth in the cold weather, and the children pick them in the warm weather.
Nearly all the potatoes are stored in pits. They are covered with rushes to keep away the rain, and frost. The different classes of potatoes are Champions, Blue-Eyes, Challangers, Kers-Pinks, and Ninty-Fours. The Ker-Pinks, Champions, and Ninty-Fours, are the potatoes that grow best in this district.
