  1. There were a lot of schools around here in the olden times. There was one in Pat Clancy's Barn, one at the cascade, and at the six crosses, and another one below the crosses, one in Martin Crowley's barn, and one near where the post office is now. Mr Donnelly taught in Clancy's barn, Mr Moloney at the six crosses, he was from Coolmeen. Mr. Frawley taught below the crosses, he was from Knockerra. Michael Keane was teaching in Crowley's bar, he was from Cranny. Mrs. Sheehan was teaching at the cascade in her own house. Mr. Cunningham and John Donohue taught in the first National School near the post office. Mrs. Cunningham was from Kilrush and Mr Donohue from near Ennis.
