- The Gabha Ruadh is a black smith that lived about two miles to the west of Kilmihil in a place called Cahar Canavan. He was master of all the ghosts, as they were called long ago holy travellers.
One day he met a man by the name of Stackpoole. Stackpoole lived in Clandrina where Pat Browne lives at present. In those days it was black sticks people had instead of gates. The Gabha Ruad's brother lost his hand crossing the sticks by night. On another day Stackpoole was told to take away the sticks by the Gabha Ruadh himself but he did not.
