    sign of rain. When the cat is sitting with her back to the fire, and when the dog is eating green grass are also signs of rain.
    Noise of Water: To hear the noise of a water fall is a sign of rain or to hear Malbay (Co. Clare) is a sign of rain.
    Frogs: In summer when the frogs turn black it foretells rain, and when they are yellow it is a sign of good weather.
    Snails: To see snails creeping along the wall is a sign of rain.
    Smoke: When the smoke goes up straight through the chimney it is a sign of good weather, and when the house is covered with smoke it is a sign of frost.
