- The houses long ago were built different to the houses nowadays. First of all the walls were very thick and uneven, and the house was very narrow. The doors were very low and narrow and the windows were also very small.
The floors were made of sand and lime and those were called earthen floors. The fire places were very wide and a big hight at the back of the fire place the chimneys were also wide. The rooms were small and narrow.
There was no division made between the room and the kitchen only with a screen.
There was always a settle bed in the old houses. There were no barges in the old houses only stones jutting out up along the house. The walls(continues on next page)- Collector
