- (continued from previous page)in harvest time as they help to save the corn. In harvest time they stay for a night. They sleep in the hay-barns. If they came around dinner time they would get their dinner. In the evening they get their supper. They get money and some food when they ask for charity. The prayers they usually say are -
"God bless you."
"God spare you your health."
"May you always have enough."
They prefer to walk because if they got a lift they could not visit all the houses. The tramps sit around the fire and speak about themselves when they were young or tell stories or adventures about long ago. When people hear that the tramps are staying at other houses, they come to listen to them telling stories and singing songs. - The only tramp that calls to our house is deaf Ann- Mrs. Arrigan. She lives in Carrick. She does not sell anything. She comes once a week. She carries a bag. If she came(continues on next page)
