    Most marriages take place from New Year's Day to Shrove Tuesday. Shrove Tuesday is the Tuesday before Lent. On that day salt, or bran, is thrown on young people to preserve them for another year.
    The boy and girl meet in town on a certain day. Then there is a match made and of both are pleased the marriage
