  2. On the arrival of the prisoner in the Custody of the police at the Railway Station, CAstlerea, A Sergeant of the R.I.C. produced a grey, tweed cap found near the remains of the murdered man.
    Addressing the prisoner.
    Sergeant _ "Is this your cap?"
    The prisoner examined the cap produced. _ looking straight and fearless at the Sergeant replied.
    "No, this cap is not my property, but this cap", turning the cap over in his hands, is of the same colour and size as my cap."
    This prisoner was conveyed that evening, Saturday, to a Dublin jail. While on that same evening the 3 prisoners, Malachy Toye, John Foxe and John Flynn were released from Roscommon Jail and returned to their homes in Castlerea.
