  1. A good judge?
    There was a fellow one time and he wanted to get married. There was (?) one in the place but himself so he couldn’t get on without a woman. He went to this man who had two daughters. One of them was as gone (?) young woman as you could lay your eyes on ; and the other was as ugly as bedamned. They were settling about the fortune anyway and the father would give two hundred with the good looking one; and he’d give five pounds more with the ugly one. So (?) on ‘men he took the ugly one with the extra five pounds.
