- The name of my native village is Lismegan. This is a very old village. The word Lismegan means "The fort of Megan" or "Megan's fort". Megan was a chief over the Barony of Costello about sixty years ago. He lived in a fort which belonged to him in this village, so that is the way Lismegan got its name.The fort which was there at that time is not to be seen now.
