- It was customary for children to get up early on Easter Sunday morning to see the sun dancing immediately it appeared above the horizon.
- During the afternoon of Easter Sunday it was usual for children to repair to the top of a hill, preferably a rath, where they constructed an 'Easter House'. A number of stones was gathered and laid down as seats in a ring. In the centre of the ring a fire of brushwood was kindled. Tea was made and eggs were boiled on this fire. At the Easter House the children enjoyed a feast of tea and eggs. One or two adults were usually present to see that no accidents occured in connection with the fire.
