- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Then boys who worked there had to turn the haks(?) and they got five pence for turning 2500 bricks. Then the kiln men came round, filled their barrows with bricks and took them to the kilns. When the kilns were full of brick then five or six hundred of coal was thrown over it in the kiln. Then all the bricks were covered with four inches deep of clay called earthen then every place was made airtight and the furnaces were set away slowly for ten or twelve hours. After everything was heated and the flues open to let out smoke the kilns were in full swing for 3 days. When the brick was red the fires were shutdown and every thing left for 18 or 20 hours. Then the clay was taken off these new bricks were stiled on the top of the walls of the kilns. The doors were all opened and the brick was put into wagons in the yard. Any contractor who wanted bricks ordered at Burnfoot and they were sent to them.
