- On St Bridget's Day rush crosses are made they are made of rushes twisted through one another. They are made in different sizes. Then they are hung in the outhouses, and in the dwelling house. At Christmas holly is hung round the houses. On Palm Sunday palms are taken to the chapel and blessed, then hung round the houses. Holy water is used for blessing the house when there is thunder and lightening. It is also used when riding in the morning, and when going to bed. It is sprinkled on (a journey) any one going on a journey, or on animals that are sick.
