“About fifty years ago there was a man who lived in a townland in Inishowen.”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)cows in a field in which grew a slow-bush. He was a beautiful singer and he used to sing songs as he herded the cows. The fairies in the slow-bush heard him and said, 'That man is a beautiful singer, what shall we do for him?' Another said, 'We will cut off that hump he has on his back and make him a straight man.'
When he went home his wife would not let him in until he would tell her how he got cured. Then a neighbour of his, hearing of his cure, said that he would go and herd the cows the next morning. This man had a bigger hump than the other man, and he wished to get cured.
The following morning the man went to the field and over to the slow-bush and then he began to sing and the fairies said, 'That man is a very bad singer, what shall we do with him?' They all agreed to put the hump that they took off the other man on top of the one he had. He left(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
