- Long ago travelling people used to get lodging in farm houses. They used to sleep in the kitchen beside the fire on a bed of straw. They used to put bags over them for blankets. They used to stay only one night in each house. They used to get a great supper that night. They used to get a big mug of tea and lots of bread and butter. They would rather eat near the fire out of a chair. Some of them used to have tea and sugar and bread themselves. The travellers used to travel on foot.
The travellers who used to visit this district in olden times were the Furys and Danny Donovan.
The Wards are the best known family around this district now. They generally came about Christmas and Easter. The Wards sleep in a tent. They stay about a week in each place.
