This year she had her bag of nuts collected as usual, but died shortly before Hallow'een, and when dying asked that her bag of nuts be buried with her. The children of the place missed the nuts so much that the father of a group of them said he would get the nuts and satisfy their longing. Knowing they had been buried with her he went
to the grave at night and proceeded with the digging. Now, beside the graveyard there lived an old Minister who was very feeble and bed-ridden. This particular night he told his servant to go out to the Church and get him a certain bible. On seeing the man digging at such an hour the servant got a fright and returned without the bible. I forgot to mention that when the man set out in search of the nuts he met a man who was
This story was told by a very old man called James Tarleton to Thomas Lucas of Clonfert. The old man was a noted story-teller but died some years ago.(continues on next page)
