There is a population of about seven hundred families. All of the people are farmers. It is hilly rough land. The people live in three roomed thatched houses two bed rooms and a kitchen. The majority of the families is three to five children. The commonest names are Reynolds, Mulveys, McManus, Gallagher, Lynches, and Mc Keirnans. There are two Catholic Churches one of which is called St Brigids and the other St Joseohs.
It is quite a long parish, it begins on the top of "Slieve an Pireann" mountain, it touches five parishes Drumshanbo, Gowel, Mohill, Cloone and Finagh.
