“When the English Sappers were mapping they discovered by their instrument that their is gold...”
When the English Sappers were mapping they discovered by their instrument that their is gold in a fort in a townland called Keenaghan near Carrick-on-Shannon. The instruments were not capable of detecting the exact position of the gold. Therefore they had to change to the other angle of the square. The gold is not yet found. The reason of this gold being buried here is that when the Danes were being driven out of Ireland, they hid all their gold expecting that they would come back some time.- Bailitheoir
