- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)-ure, spread in the centre of the ridge.A plough, a spade and a lay are used. A plough is used for turning the sod and throwing in the hinting. A spade is used for hearting the ridge and a lay sometimes. Long ago there were no metal ploughs and there was only wooden ploughs instead. There are wooden ploughs to be seen up to the present day because there is one in Bernard Gallagher's of Drumcolligan. Lays are made locally and spreads are bought in the shop. A blacksmith makes the blades of lays and a carpenter the handle.
