deposits a lot of rain in Ireland. When the wind blows from the north it brings snow and when the wind blows from the east we have dry weather.
When rain is approaching ducks and geese begin to quack and fly about. The cat sits with her back to the fire and begins to wash her face with her paws. Winds make a hollow sound at the approach of rain. The soot falls down ans ascends the sky vertically without scattering. Spiders creep from their cobwebs and crickets have a sharp eye. The distant mountains like Sliabh In Iarrain come very near or appear to the eye to be nearer at the approach of rain.
Flies and midges are very busy and sting sharply at the approach of rain. The swallow flies low when rain is coming and high when good weather is coming. The frog turns black in damp weather. In good weather the frog is of a bright yellow colour. Sea birds and cranes come inland along rivers at the approach of storm.
