- One time there was a monk who lived in Cloonmorris. He used to go to the abbey every night to pray. One night the Blessed Virgin appeared to him. He told the head of the monastery. The head said "Take this crucifix, leave it before you and say if you are the mother of God, come adore this crucifix. The next night he went to pray as usual and did as he was told. When the vision appeared he said "Come adore this crucifix and immediately it went up in smoke. It is said it was a bad spirit who was trying to make the monk proud.
