- Clothes Made LocallyThere are four tailors in this district and they all work in their houses. Most of them stock cloth. About sixty years ago cloth was made locally. When the flax was scutched and carded it was spun into thread, then it was taken to a weaver who made it into cloth.
There was a weaver in nearly every district.
A few old women still spin wool and knit it into socks. There are no sayings connected with tailoring. The implements a tailor uses at his work are - a sewing - machine, scissors, needles, tape and iron.Long ago shirts and trousers were made from linen made from flax grown locally. Then are many spinning wheels in the district they are mostly up the mountain but they are not used.- Bailitheoir
