- In the townland of Carrignafeela there is marked on the Ordinance Survey maps a place known locally as the "oad gaol". It is strongly supposed that gold is buried there - so strongly in fact it is said Old John Cournane of Tonreigh dreamt that Gold was hidden there and that accompanied by another man, he went there at night and raised a large flat stone.
When they had the stone raised a ferocious bull appeared on the scene - with chains hanging round his neck and horns (even though it is said that no bull was on that farm at the time). The bull charged them and they ran through Pairc s' tobac" and went home. The stone which they had raised was afterwards carried off but by whom it is not known.
They never afterwards went digging for gold.
