Many stories of storms are remembered by people, but none so wild as Montgomery's. He was a man that was to be hanged on 3rd October 1829. The day of his execution a great thunder-storm burst. It started at 8 o'clock A.M. and it continued all day and all night.
People were much terrified. Most of them thought it was the end of the world.
On the 6th Oct 1929, another storm came. This was a rain storm. The floods were so high that cattle were swept off the mountains. They were found miles away from where they were grazing, many of them were dead in the low-lying grounds some days after, when the flood abated.
