- A Burial House
When a death occurs all work in the townland is suspended. The house in which the dead person is (is) called a burial house. The remains are always waked for two nights. In the day-time it is the older people that visit the burial house. All the persons, friends, and relations and immediate neighbours sit till morning.
The men say their prayers at the door, and the women say theirs at the bed side and they sit in the kitchen. Tobacco and clay pipes used to be given round but I think there are no clay pipes at present. Snuff is given to the women to those who take it.
Tea is always given to those who come a long journey. The blinds are not drawn in this part of the country. The Rosary is recited at intervals(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
