    In former times people did not wear boots till they were sixteen years. Many girls did not wear boots till the day they got married. At present children go barefoot from April till October. The feetwater is thrown out in the yard. Formerly it was not. It was kept in the house till morning so as to be there for the "good" people to wash their feet when they would come at night.
    Boots are not made or repaired locally. Neither are clogs. Clogs were worn up to recently by a few people only. They are not worn now. About sixty years ago young men used to wear gutta percha shoes. I have never heard of foot coverings of any kind being worn.
