- We have cows pigs horses and calves at home and fowl. We have 3 cows and 2 calves and 4 pigs and 60 hens and 30 chickens. The cows have all different names. When the cows are not going into their proper places in the shed we say ceartaig or yéois.The cow sheds are called crós. The usual bedding is furze which is covered with straw. There is a division between every cow's tying to prevent them from kicking or eating each other's food.There is no name on the cows tying. The tying is made of a rope or junk and it is fixed on to the wall with a staple. The tying is put either around their neck or around their horns.The people in this district say that it is very unlucky to spill or to waste milk.
