There is an old Mass Stone in Newtown. In the Penal times a priest named Fr Downey used to say Mass on it and the people used to come from all the districh round to hear Mass. One Sunday morning as the priest was saying Mass there the soldurs came suddenly and seized the priest and took him behind the rock and shot him. Ever since there is a kind of red colour on the back of the rock and on the bushes near it.
