- Tinnahinch is a fairly big townland. Long ago in the townland there was a castle from which the townland got its name. The castle was built on an island as the patch of land on which it was built was surrounded by the River Barrow.People by the name of Dunne,lived in the castle. In the place where the castle was,now stands a farmhouse. There is a quaint well near where the farmhouse is,and the people of the castle got water in it.
