- The Stony Man is situated on the highest peak on Capard Mountains. It is just a plain pier built of stones resembling a man.It is about twenty or thirty feet in height.It is wide at the bottom and as it goes up it gradually decreased. It can be seen from very far off as it is built on a very good site.It is not long built.It was built about seventy or eighty years ago. Some men were up hunting on the Slieve Bloom Mountains and one day when they had finished they built the pier partly like a man and afterwards it was(continues on next page)
