    The robin is called redbreast for she has a red breast. It is said she picked the thorn out of Our Lord's Head and a drop of blood fell on her breast. The wren is called "king of the birds." All the birds collected long ago and agreed that whichever could fly the highest would be king. The eagle went the highest, but the the wren stood on his tail, and flew up then so he became the king "of birds."
