    make toys. Toys are to be got in shops for next to nothing now and it would not pay to make them. People made toys to please their children. They made whistles out of chestnuts, reeds and many other things. They also made toys out of timber and tin. Get a hazel stick and clean out the middle and stuff each end with paper. Then get a thinner stick and drive out the paper in one end. The pressure of the wind will drive out the paper in the other end and so it makes a great noise. Whistles were also made out of chestnuts by making a small hole in the chestnut and cleaning out the inside.
