    Most Rev Dr Burke D. D.
    In the ancient cemetery of Kilcroan, near Ballymoe, there is a magnificent vault in which repose the remains of Most Rev Dr Patrick Burke D.D. who was Bishop of the hostoric See of Elphin from 1827 to 1843. This vault was erected by the priests of the diocese ruled by him for sixteen years. On one side of it is the inscription "Pray for the soul of the Right Rev Dr Burke D.D. who was Consecrated Bishop of Augustopolis in the year 1819 and coadjutor of the Diocese of Elphin, the goverment of which he assumed in the year 1827, and died at his residence Turlo, on the 16th September 1843. "May he rest in peace" On the other side is the following inscription: "This monument is erected by the unanamous contribution of the Rev clergy of the diocese to the memory of the late lamented Diocesan the Right Rev Dr Burke, whose paternal kindness
