- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)There was a school situated in Richard Donovan's field in Croumhane, about four miles to the north of Castletown Bere, in the Parish of Eyeries, and one mile from the school. It is situated in a big field, to the north of the house. It was in the Summer months the school was held there, as it was used for a cowhouse in Winter. There is a green mossy fence situated near it, and it was there the scholars used to sit while writing. The pupils who attended this school brought turf every morning to make a fire for themselves, as their parents used not bring turf that time as they do now. There was a man named Pat Dwyer teaching there, and seldom he got pay for his instruction. Sometimes he got cloth to make clothes for himself, and that is how he made his living. There was no school held there in Winter, and therefore the children had to be taught at home during(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
