- In the year 1879 a sailing vessel came into Crookhaven harbour. She came in as some of her crew were ill. She was bound for Queenstown and had a cargo of oil cake on board. She was wrecked on the north side of the harbour. When she came in a wind blew from the southeast. The local people took some of the cargo and she was towed to Cork to get repairs.
