Tadhg Ciaruigheach and a woman, a neighbour of his, each gave an order to Mick Báid in Dunmanway for a pair of shoes.
They had an argument as to which of them would have the shoes first. The end of it was that Tadg betted a half pint of whiskey that he would have his shoes before she would have hers. He went off and wrote a song and sent it to the shoemaker to Mick Báid asking him to send him his shoes as fast as he could, and explaining why he wanted them.
