- This is the story my uncles related to me about my great grand Uncles:- During the last period of the last century a voice came to the window of the Fitzpatrick's of Lisdangan three nights in succession and told them that a crock of gold was hid in "Liosdangain" the burial place of Kilcroaghera. Finally they prepared weapons for their task, determined to get the treasure at any cost. After a long period of digging they came upon a flagstone, and at that moment a monstrous bull came roaring towards them, at which they laid down their weapons and fled home. The following night a voice came to the window and said "that the gold was removed".
- A man named Mr. Callaghan long ago who lived west from Newmarket was walking with a another man around
a field in the front of the house one day, and what
should they see but a big ball of gold come rolling
down the field against them, and they went to one side and
lift it pass and when it went a certain distance it disappeared
and they went trying afterwards for it, but they could find
no trace of it. They were digging and digging for a week or more
but could not find it. The people of the locality say
that it must be somewhere in the field to-day.- Collector
