   While these details were being seen to the preparation for the wedding was being pushed ahead in the boys home. Potatoes and all kinds of meats were being stored. The beef and mutton and veal and bacon were cooked and set aside Stout and wine and whiskey were ordered from some relative (if a publican) or some very old publican friend; turf and water in plenty were laid by in some convenient place and cups, saucers, plates, spoons, knives teapots etc etc were gathered from the neighbouring houses. Seats of all kinds were improvised and kept in readiness for Saturday.
   Invitations to the wedding in those days were a source of worry to the respective parties. No matter who was invited there was always some relative who felt he had as good a right as somebody else and the rebuff was never forgotten. Still an attempt was made to satisfy all. The first cousins and second cousins were to be there the neighbours one and all were ‘asked’. Friends who had done “a good turn” for either party could
