From this on the fairies or good people are powerless a day or two have elapsed and the tired and worn mother is allowed to sleep. The baby's clothes and Christening robes - I have already mentioned that the mother never made any of the clothes for her first baby. Neither did she buy anything to be worn prior to or at the christening. Only one set of tiny garments was made - it was not lucky to lay up a supply. With regard to the christening dress or robe it was always borrowed for the first baby - borrowed from some neighbour who had recently used one at Baptism. The one robe did duty on several occasions. For the second and other children the parents may buy a robe of they felt so inclined. Should the baby died the little clothes were given away to some poor person. Nobody
