    crowd there. The crowd went before them dirtying the wells and streams. Someone threw a stone and hit a policeman. The officer (and there was a magistrate with him) spoke up and said "If that will occur again I'll read the Riot Act." After that the crowd kept quiet.
    Well, the evicted tenants were well looked after. They got clothes and boots and food. Others were evicted and all were reinstated. Nearly all (League members) got some time in jail and in that way the Land League beat the Landlords. (John recited the names of those evicted but as they appear elsewhere I refrain from repitition).
