- The big stones that are standing in fields through the country are supposed to be corner stones to build a castle for a king. Giants went out around the country to gather the corner stones to build the castle.
When they were bringing them the giants heard the bugle sounding for war. They left the stones down from their shoulders in the places where they are, and went to battle.
The big heaps of stones that are on tops of mountains are said to be marks where Irish Chieftains were buried. They are said to have been buried standing.
