- WEATHER LOREThe old people were great for telling the kind of weather that was to come. They used say when the swallows would fly low it was a sign of bad weather and when the rooks would fly low and in a flock, it was a sure sign of bad weather. When there is a rainbow in the sky in the evening it is said to be a sign of the following day being fine but a rainbow in the sky in the morning and the wind blowing from the west means a bad wet day. There is an old saying as follows:"A rainbow in the morning is the shepherd's warning,
A rainbow at night is the shepherd's delight".Now there are radio sets and barometers to tell us about the weather that is before us.Written by Joe McAuliffeTold by Michael O'Connor (69 yrs)
