The milk from the stem of the "boneen na naon" will clear your hands of warts by rubbing it on them. This will also kill trout if it is put in the water. The odourú was an old cure for bloodless people. The way this is said to have been used was so much of it boiled and its juice drank by the sufferer. The heart of the dock is very quick to heal sore lips and if rubbed on the part affected by a nettle sting will soon take away the pain.
The nettles and "pusheac buide" can be boiled for food. The way nettles are used is pick any amount wanted by picking off the leaves and cover them with boiling water. Then boil them in the same way as cabbage. The leaves of the "pusheac buide" can be picked off each stem and be boiled like cabbage.
