The Protestant families of Ahernes and O’Sullivans have tombs there. Theee are no monuments in the graveyards but timber and iron crosses mark the graves of some families.
Killogholehan is a graveyard with a grand tradition. It belongs to the earliest ages, and is associated with the abbey of Kelly’s in the county Kilkenny. The ruins of the old church are on a good state of presentation, as this church is under the charge of the Board of Health. The windows, part of the altar, and the doorways are still to be seen, and there is a tomb within the church grounds, where some noble persons are buried. It is in this churchyard the graves of those men, who lost their lives in the Courthouse fire are buried, also by their side are the men who were brutally murdered by the Black and Tans. This is known as the Republican plot, and at some future time it is proposed to erect a monument.
