  1. A Story.
    It was a winter's night when we were all sitting round the fire that my father related to us this story, which really happened in our own village of Adare. There was a man living with his wife and every night the house was fillled with men playing cards. If any man wanted tea the man of the house would go to where the woman was sleeping and drag her out to make tea.
    This night the wife was very sick and all the men were playing cards when a knock was heard at the door. When they opened it a tall man dressed very respectably stepped in and
