Gradually the thatched cabins gave way to strong, concrete modern buildings which server as shops and dwelling houses. These houses are made from the finest stone and slate found in the neighbouring quarries around especially at Hollyford, Co. Tipperary.Situation for Trade
Although Doon does not posess a railway station still it is well linked up wiht the principal trading towns as Limerick and Tipperary. The merchants have their own motor lorries for the transport of goods to and from Limerick. The vilage is also on the route of the Kilkenny - Limerick bus service. With so much in it's favour it si no wonder that Doon should be a prosperous village.The Doon Hills
Those hills situated at the north of the village are very famous. Many oary memories are enshrined in the old names of these hills on whose summits Fionn Mc Cumhall sat while his men and dogs hunted in the woods below(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
