    The present tailors in this district are John White, James Sheppard, and Ned Aherne.
    James Sheppard - the present tailor's grand-father was also a tailor so that the trade is traditional in the family. All the tailors work in their own houses and when a person wishes to have a suit made, the tailor takes his measure and when completed he takes the suit to the house of its owner. Ned Aherne always keeps stuff or cloth and the other two, only keep patterns and send away for the material when required. The tailor's implements are, a scissors, a thimble which has no bottom, a foot or hand machine, a goose-iron, and an inchtape which he uses for measuring. The iron is so called because it is very large and heavy.
    Long ago flax was used in the making of certain articles. The flax was first sown and when fit was pulled up by the roots. It was tied in bundles and placed in a pool of water. It was again put to bleach and then hackled and taken to the mill. Here it was cloven and prepared for spinning and weaving. This custom is still
